Area AttractionsOur native Deer Park is aptly named “The Birthplace of Texas,” a title that honors the town’s rich history and tradition. This was the site of the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, and the proud home of Patrick’s Cabin, where treaty papers were drafted declaring Texas’ independence from Mexico. To this day, the San Jacinto Battleground and Battleship TEXAS remain historical sites and important destinations. There’s also a representation of Patrick’s Cabin which stands today near the heart of our downtown area. But alas, there’s a lot more than just history to explore in Deer Park!

From arts and dining to shopping and outdoor recreation, our Deer Park community is warm and welcoming, with plentiful and diverse offerings for seniors, families and even the younger generation. Events including “Dive-in” movies at the Dow Park Pool and the free open-air concerts and festivals are enjoyed by area residents all year round. In addition, our Art Park Players is one of the last remaining dinner theater groups in all of Texas.

Golfers of all ages and ability levels test their skills at the Battleground Golf Course, and for comfortable, down-home dining, Antonio’s and Guidry’s Cajun Kitchen are among our local favorites. Team sports are also an important part of life here in Texas, and whether it’s cheering on the grandkids, supporting local high schools, or coming together over our shared love of the Houston Texans, Rockets and Astros, it’s really a unifying force in and around Deer Park and across the Lone Star State.

In all, the satisfying hometown setting and close proximity (about 30 minutes) to all of the excitement of nearby Houston, plus ready access to the beaches of Galveston (less than an hour) makes Deer Park a fine home base for active senior living in this part of Texas. And for seniors who want to unlock the joys of worry-free living and have more freedom to experience life on their terms, Morada Deer Park is the place!
