Jeff Sabedra

Executive Director

Executive Director Jeff Sabedra brings over twenty years of operations in the hospitality industry.  Having worked with many world-wide hotel brands, he has extensive leadership and service satisfaction experience from his career and from the many civic and community groups he has been part of.

In this role, he has a more specific clientele, however the transition into senior living has been smooth as being hospitable is in his blood and the operational aspect remains the same.

When not working, Jeff enjoys acting with area theatre groups.  He also spoils his two dogs.  He is author of Remembering the Rock, a book honoring his mother.

Director of Resident Services Stephanie DeLaGarza has been proudly serving residents of Morada Victoria East since 2018. Stephanie began her professional career as a social worker in a nursing home setting, and came to Morada Senior Living following a seven-year tenure as a Deputy Clerk in the Victoria County government offices.

She takes great pride in knowing and engaging our residents, and in her current role, aims to be a bright and positive presence in our community, all while delivering recreational and social experiences that have a meaningful impact in residents’ lives.

Senior Lifestyle Counselor

Senior Lifestyle Counselor Karen Slusher is an experienced healthcare and senior living industry professional who joined the Morada Senior Living team in 2019 after holding multiple, wide-ranging positions in specialized healthcare settings.

In her current role, she is dedicated in her support of local seniors and families as they explore the many benefits of care-free senior living and search for the best option to suit their particular needs. Karen takes great pride in getting to know those who make their way to Morada Victoria East and especially loves to follow along with new and established residents as they continue their journeys here in our community.

Debra Cantu

Director of Housekeeping

Director of Housekeeping, Debra Cantu has 20 years of experience in the senior living industry. She began her career as a housekeeper, while being a caregiver at night. She served as the Director of Culinary Services for several years of years before assuming the role she currently as Director of Housekeeping. She chose this path, because she enjoys working with seniors. Helping them brings joy to her. Debra is very visible among the residents and is quick to help in any area needed to make sure the residents needs and wants are met.

Director of Culinary Services James Drewery began his career in the army, specializing in Nuclear Biological and Chemical Warfare before discovering his real passion in the army’s culinary field. After retiring from the army, he began cooking full time and studying at Johnson and Wales University. James held a prior role at our sister community, Morada Deer Park, before joining our talented culinary team here at Morada Victoria East. James is a strong leader who cares about helping his team members achieve their culinary potential. Inspired by Hawaiian cuisine and locally sourced ingredients, he strives to incorporate these dishes into the menu as well as resident-crafted recipes to deliver a wholesome dining experience.

Estela Aguirre began her career in senior living as our concierge. Her caring attitude, vibrant personality and energy proved beneficial to the residents. Her organization and multi-tasking skills made her an ideal candidate for her current role. She has found such satisfaction in helping our residents.

Loren Hackbarth

Director of Facilities

Raised in Victoria, Loren graduated from Victoria College and earned a Bachelor’s of Applied Arts & Science from University of Houston-Victoria. He worked 27 years for rural electric power companies and 3 years in electrical sales. A member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, he serves as an usher and volunteer for other parish activities. Most of his career has centered around customer contact which has helped him connect with the residents here. What he enjoys most of his occupation here is the variety of tasks and people he meets.
